What We Do
Westminster Home Connection provides critical home repairs and mobility modifications to enable older adults and those with disabilities to age in place safely and with dignity.
Our low-cost improvements give homeowners a way to remain in the home they love and in the communities where they’ve built their lives. A home is also the largest asset most people will ever own. And so by maintaining them, we help establish generational wealth for many historically underserved and minority communities.
Our in-house construction teams resolve safety, mobility, and functionality issues that when left unresolved, might otherwise cause homeowners to be forced to leave or sell their homes. Plumbing is the most common type of repair we do. Plumbing issues can cause a home to deteriorate quickly, and more than half of the homes we work on have plumbing needs. In addition, more than 60 percent of the homes we work on are in need of mobility modifications.
Here are some additional examples of the type of projects our team does:
Roofs: Repair leaks, truss or decking damage, replace worn out roofs
Soffits, Fascia & Gutters: Repair and replace
HVAC: Provide heated and cooled living space
Structural: Repair joists and subfloors
Electrical: Fix fire hazards and shock dangers, upgrade receptacles
Plumbing: Repair leaks, replace or repair toilets and faucets, fixtures, and sinks, and replace water heaters
Carpentry: Repair flooring, doors, trim, walls, windows and decks
Pest treatment: Termites, roaches and ants
Mobility: Install ramps, widen doors, adjust cabinets, install ADA toilets, convert tubs to showers,
install grab bars and railingsMiscellaneous: Replace deteriorated steps; repair missing or unstable handrails, and remove obstructions;
change HVAC filters; provide fire extinguishers; install smoke detectors, and change batteries
Westminster also matches some of our older adult clients with patient and caring staff and volunteers to declutter their homes. Clearing clutter and creating walkways through primary living spaces is another way to make a home safer and more functional.
